Dan Pacheco, Examiner.com’s Social Media Examiner, had this to say in an examination of Twitter:
Have you been “twittered” (or is that “twattered” or “twuttered”)?

I’m Giving MessageDance a Try April 3, 2008

I'm posting this via a MessageDance interface between my email account and WordPress. I can't wait to see how it looks. VP of Operations and Finance Geoff Wolfe told me:
Doye! But seriously, here's hoping this goes well.

Designing a Facebook App March 27, 2008

Designing a Facebook application when you’re neither a trained designer nor a seasoned developer can be incredibly annoying. So instead of working on it I’m going to complain about it. Facebook is changing their format a little bit in the coming weeks and I’m concerned that design progress will be all for naught. I’ve also cropped so much crap in the last two weeks I’m starting to use the words “crop” and “crap” in jokes. The shame then adds to the discomfort.
I’m also a little pissed at myself that I forgot to pick up a SocialMedia lunch box from the conference, as well as a sweet MySQL + Java = SunSQLava Microsystems t-shirt.

I attended the SnapSummit conference yesterday with some enthusiasm and left with little more than a very flashy t-shirt. Much of the discussion was centered around advertising because it’s the principle form of monetizing facebook applications. Unfortunately, all that this elicited was a repetitive rehashing of the basic tenants of online advertising:
Find a balance between having engaging and intrusive ads.
Make ads relevant to the product/app.
Use metrics and ‘hyper-targeting’ strategies to focus on the right audience.
There is no one route to successful advertising.
etc.
One panelist said the following (paraphrased): “We did this deal with Anheuser-Busch that was all about “clinking.” So people would take pictures of their friends clinking beer bottles and it got popular. So instead of having a facebook app where you clink beer bottles, why not make them Corona bottles or Budweiser bottles?”
Audience member: “Doesn’t facebook prohibit third party brand names from their apps?”
Panelist: “Oh, ya I don’t know.”
This conversation was somewhat representative of the conference as a whole. I’ll say more about the conference in my next post.
SnapSummit 2.Oh… March 26, 2008

Just got back from the Snapsummit conference in san francisco. I wasn’t blown away, nor did I find the egg rolls particularly good. I am however now wearing a really sweet blood-red t-shirt that says “Flex Your Apps,” which I’m now doing.
To sum it up:
Facebook guy: “…which is really important“
other guy: “myspace is tanking”
guys with top hats: “wearing these top hats was a stroke of genius”
aaron the moderator: “Oh…well don’t tell me what you really thought. Hahaha”
